Sparrow

Psychological actions have
Physical correlates

Being far physically from the flames
Does not absolve us from blame
Every thought one thinks
Is kindling to the flames
Or
A sprinkling of water on the flames

What one does and says, of course
But also every thought one thinks
Changes the world

The sparrow
Carrying mouthfuls of water
To douse the flames
Of the heretic being burnt at the stake
Said
How else can I show
Which side I am on?

Like her, we are, each one
Called upon to show
Which side we are on
Then we will realise that
Everything that happens in the world
Changes us

Physical actions have
Psychological correlates
