Big Brother’s foreign Cousins
Are fawning and gushing
Bending over backwards and
All criticism they are shushing
The American Cousin Brother
Invites him to dinner
Can’t he take a close look
And tell saint from sinner?
The French Cousin Brother
Confers the Legion d’Honneur
Can’t he see he’s boxing himself
Into a right-wing corner?
More and more Big Relatives
Will do this and that
Who twenty-one years ago
Kept him out by fiat
The reason, of course, is
His rich Relatives back home
He heads the Big Joint Family
That mines nickel and chrome
The other consideration is
The size of the market, dear
Indians outnumber everyone:
Do I make myself clear?
Business is business
Mammon is king
Ethics, fair play, guilt
Are all outdated things
Each of Big Brother’s Cousins knows this:
You and I just consume, a lot or a little
Without India on board
Their bottom-lines are brittle
So make “Be local buy local”
Your mantra, dear buddy
Else the e-colonisers will make
Your hands also bloody
